Welcome to the HCA family!
Admissions at HCA are prayerfully considered and based on an appropriate match between student and school. It is not first come first served. The process is outlined below:
Before you begin, seek the Lords guidance on your educational choices. Be in consistant, regular prayer about this crucial decision, and seek out scripture that will provide you with solid counsel.
1. Following receipt of our school brochure or an information packet, the family calls to schedule a tour with a member of our staff. A guided tour includes:
-Tour of entire facility
-Informal description of our program, mission, and philosophy
-An opportunity to ask questions and get the answers you need
2. Family completes application and returns it with a $50.00 non-refundable application fee.
3. Family sends out three references (pastor, teacher, friend) which must be received by HCA in time for the interview.
4. Family contacts current school and requests copies of :
-report cards,
-standardized test results,
-IEP and educational evaluation results (applicable for applicants with learning challenges)
5. Family calls HCA and makes appointment for admissions screening/interview.
6. The student comes in for academic screening with one of our faculty members.
7. Parents bring applying student, report cards, standardized test results, and IEP information to admissions interview. (Please do not bring other children to the interview).
8. Principal presents all admissions applications to Admissions Committee for consideration.
9. HCA Office notifies the family concerning the decision of the Admissions Committee.
If a student is not accepted to HCA and a family wishes to appeal this decision, the family must put this appeal in writing to the HCA School Committee.
10. Upon acceptance, the HCA Office sends acceptance packet containing
-Registration Agreement
-Permission to Participate in School Activities and Receive Medical Care
-Family-School Covenant
-Request for School Records Form
-Handbooks
-Supply List & Gym Uniform Order Form
-Tuition Information and Tuition Payment Preference Form
11. Parent confirms acceptance with return of the Registration Agreement and a tuition deposit.
Upon receipt of the above (Registration Agreement and tuition deposit) the student is officially enrolled at Holden Christian Academy. The focus then shifts to preparing the student for a smooth transition into our school. Actions that can help make the transition process easier include having the student come to the school for a day of shadowing, having a family meeting with the teacher, reviewing the school handbook with the student, and getting answers from the school for any questions the student may have. Also review the results of the admissions testing and identify any areas where the students perfomance was not up to expectations. Steps can be taken to firm up areas of challenge prior to starting at the school, which can also ease the transition.
